Game Project Contribution

My contributions in making my group project are making all of the events (in other words, the processes) of the game (from the dialogue system, the player movements, until the mini-games throughout the game) and a bit of designing the city map of the game. When working on the game events, I encountered some problems, such as no reference for making the dialogue system, the mini-games, stopping player movement when the dialogue appears, and no idea on how to design the city map. All problems, except the mini-games, are solved by exploring the available conditions and action in Construct 2. To solve button-mashing mini-game problem, I asked the Teacher Assistant (TA) for help since the events mechanism are unlike other programming languages. For example, Python, Java, C++, and many more. I also solved the mask-pick-up mini-game by making an event mechanism similar to the button-mashing event mechanism the Teacher Assistant (TA) has proposed. I only add more roads, grass, and trees to design the city map since I barely have creativity to design something.

The team will make a role-playing game which will be adapted from Indonesia’s current situation regarding the corona virus outbreak. In this game, the player will follow the story which will have several mini games along it. The mini games are all about corona virus prevention so that the player will understand how dangerous is the virus and how to avoid it.

The game will have two characters. One is a sick person in his house who will explain the virus and what should we do at home to avoid it. The other one is a healthy person who just got outside from the MRT station near fX Sudirman who will tell the danger from the virus and also what the player need to do to prevent the crowd, which is a potential way to spread the virus to other people. The dialogue will be brought in a educational way with a bit of jokes to ensure that the player will be entertained while playing the game.
